From Student to Specialist

Bridging Research and Lived Experience

I was once an EAL/D learner myself.

Long before I became a teacher, I knew what it felt like to sit in a classroom and have the words move faster than my understanding of them. That experience has never left me — and it's the reason Language and Literacy Solutions exists.

Here's what I've learned in the years since: what works for EAL/D learners works for all learners. The same intelligent, high-leverage scaffolding that unlocks access for a student still developing English also lifts outcomes for struggling readers, students with learning difficulties, and every learner in between. No student should be left behind because support seems too hard to give — because in reality, it isn't.

My Journey

I've been working with children since 2007, and in schools since 2010. Over more than 12 years since, I've specialised in literacy and EAL/D intervention — across both public and private school settings, in classrooms with genuinely different students, cohorts and constraints.

That range matters. It means the strategies I share aren't theoretical — they've been tested in real classrooms, with real time pressures, by a real teacher who's stood where you're standing.

How I Work

Every engagement starts with a short, no-obligation consultation, so I can recommend the right fit for your school, your staff and your students.

I believe in three things, and I hold every strategy I share to them

Classroom-tested. Designed for the realities of real classrooms and real teachers, not ideal conditions that don't exist.

Practical. Strategies you can implement without unnecessary planning or added workload — because you already have enough on your plate.

Research-informed. Grounded in evidence and contemporary educational research — not trends.

What Schools Are Saying

"An excellent presentation. Well structured. So many differentiation strategies — a testimony to your teaching expertise." — Principal

"I had no idea how to support my non-English speaking students and was so overwhelmed by this. Thank you for all the ideas that honestly won't take that much time to implement." — Kindergarten Teacher

Helping teachers understand why students struggle — and know what to do next.
